My main hair inspiration for Estella

To begin working on my hair designs for Estella I gathered some images on Pinterest of how I think Estella may have worn her hair. From all my research of the fashions in hair during the Victorain era, I know that it was very popular to have rolls in the hair. This is an element that I want to keep for my final Estella hair design.

However the rolls that I want to use to develop my designs will be loose twists as rolls in the hair. I believe that this will keep an elegant feel to my hair design. This image on the right is showing how to create a twist a coil bun in the hair.

I really like this hairstyle, it keeps to the Victorian era fashions in hair. However I think that I could create and keep more reference to the BBC three part series butterflies that I have included in my inspiration for my makeup designs.

From finding historical drawings of women throughout the Victorian era, I have found that plates and braids were often commonly used in the hair. This image below shows historical reference to how plates and braids were used in the hair.

I think I may try to include some braids in my final hair design for Estella. Also as the final images for Estella will be photographed in black and white I want to add some butterfly props to the hair as maybe some coloured synthetic hair to add more texture and tone to the hair design.
