Creating cuts and wounds
Materials needed to create this look:
- Tissue
- Latex
- Spirit gum & spirit gum remover
- Wax
- Supracolour pallet
- Wound filler and fake blood
- Wooden takeaway coffee stirring sticks broken to around 4cm each x2
- This is a much more theatrical take on how to create a fresh burn which is similar to an open wound.
Below is a step by step of how to
create this look:
- Rip single layers of tissue apart, ensure that the edges of the tissue are not straight (soft edges only) this will create a more realistic feel.
- Place the tissue on the front of the hand and layer tissue with latex on this area, you should ensure the middle part is the thickest.
- Once the tissue and latex is dry, tear the area from the middle and pull open to create the effect of an open wound.
- Colour the dried latex tissue with a foundation matching your models skin tone. Ensuring you colour both sides of the tissue in the middle section where the wound is open.
- You should then make three ‘sausage’ like strips of wax and place then inside the opened latex in line with the muscles from the knuckles. Flatten the edges to the skin and then push the wooden sticks into the wax.
- Seal this area with spirit gum and allow to dry.
- Begin colouring the open wound with shades of red from the Supracolour pallet. This will make thewound look sore. Like this image on the right.
- Use the white Supracolour to create the illusion of bone on top of the wooden sticks.
- Once you have coloured the area appropriately using red Supracolour you should then use fake blood and wound filler around the inside of the wound and around the ‘bones’ to create a more realistic effect.
To be able to remove the wooden sticks and the wax
you should use spirit gum remover.
