How to create my final hair design
Here is my final hair design for my creation of Estella. This
hair design includes the butterfly braid at the back, the front sections of the
hair being twisted with a middle parting and a thick synthetic deep purple
braid going all the way around the head to cover the hairline of the wig. This blog
post will include a step by step of how to create this hairstyle and products/tools
that will also be needed. I will be working on the wig which has been prepped and
placed on a dolly head, this is the final wig setting that I will use for my
Estella.
Products/tools needed to create this hairstyle:
- A thick braid made from the deep purple synthetic hair to wrap about the head on the hairline
- A short braid from synthetic hair
- Deep purple synthetic hair
- Hairspray
- Dry shampoo
- Pintail comb
- Postiche brush
- Wide hair brush
- Hair grips
- Hair pins
- Butterflies as accessories in the hair
Here is a step by step of how to create this hairstyle:
- Apply dry shampoo to the wig as it will make the wig less slippery and easier to work with.
- Brush all of the hair down leaving the hair is all flat on the head, ensure that there is a middle parting.
- Begin back combing the front section of the hair that will be used to be twisted. This will give the twisting more hold and volume.
- Then twist one side of the front section of hair and use hair pins to hold the hair in place. Repeat this for the other front side. Once you reach the middle of the twisted front sections at the back of the head when they meet use some hair grips to hold them in place temporary.
- Keeping the temporary grips in the hair then brush all of the hair into a ponytail at the middle back of the head. You can then remove the pins, you should ensure that all the hair is smooth.
- You should then attach two sections of the deep purple synthetic hair at the top and bottom of the pony tail securing it with hair grips.
- Then split this section into four parts, making the two sections at the top thicker than the two bottom sections.
- Begin braiding the top left section of hair ONLY pinching a new section of hair for the BOTTOM section of the braid. Once you have finished the braid you can then pin it into the hair holding it into the desired butterfly shape. Repeat this for the top right section of hair.
- Begin breading the bottom left side section ONLY pinching a new section of hair for the TOP braid. Continue braiding until you have reached the ends of the hair and then pin into place. Repeat this for the bottom right section of hair. You can then use hair pins to hold the braided hair into the desired butterfly shape.
- You should then use the short deep purple synthetic hair to place in the middle of the braid to act as the body of the butterflies’ body. You can hold this in place with hair grips.
- Once you are happy with the shape and placement of the butterfly braid you should then use hair spray to hold the hair in place.
- You should then use the thick deep purple synthetic braid to place around the head covering the hairline of the wig. You can secure the braid with hair pins and grips.
- You can then place the black sparkly butterflies in the hair as desired.
Here are some pictures I took while I was creating this
hairstyle on my wig for my Estella.
