Main characters of Great Expectations

Miss Havisham – Miss Havisham is a very wealthy old woman in the novel who had been jilted on her wedding day. Her character is fairy eccentric, she almost seems insane. She purposely raises Estella as her own tool of revenge against men, teacher her to break men’s hearts.

Estella – Estella is the young ward of Miss Havisham who is a child at the beginning of the novel. Throughout the novel Estella plays on the fact Pip adores her. She is a very cold, cruel character who is completely uninterested in Pip.

Pip – Pip is the narrator of the book, the whole story is coming from his view of everything that happened in the novel. Pip opens the story as an orphaned child being raised by his abusive sister and his brother in law in the marches of Kent. Pip seems to be a passionate, romantic and unrealistic character.
